Dish HDTV Satellite System

Satellite DishTo date, the TV industry is excited about a US Senate bill that proposes to implement a law or legislation that would allow the complete shift or focus in TV broadcast transmission from analog, the conventional, to digital, he modern type.

The proposal means that after February 17, 2009, the conventional, traditional and widely used analog TV sets in the country will be obsolete and completely useless.

Conventional analog TV sets would not be able to receive signal transmissions from digital broadcasters anymore. Thus, the lower-income TV viewers would have to be deprived of TV entertainment. That would certainly spell trouble, in big bold words.

Home Theater system- What should I look for?

home theater system

mymammoth asked:

I live in an 850 sq. foot apartment and am planning on buying a home theater system for my living room t.v. I'm not sure how I should shop for one and what I should look for. Should I go by how it sounds at the store? Does wattage matter?

I want pretty good sound, but I want to also make sure my downstairs neighbors don't hear the noise. Any advice would be great. Thanks!
Also, this will mostly be used for watching movies and playing the XBOX 360 and Wii. I'd like to keep it at a budget below $500.
Thanks for all the helpful answers- I went into the store and "listened" to the different ones. Due to the space in my apartment, I wound up going with a 2.1 system rather than a 5.1.

Here is my home theater system. Will a self powered sub work well?

home theater system

Julian D asked:

My theater system-Link: http://electronics.pricegrabber.com/home-theater-systems/m/51825688/details/

The amp in this receiver isn't that strong and won't push my sub well. There is an extra sub out-put on the receiver so I want to connect a good SELF POWERED sub using a subwoofer cable so that I can optimize the self powered sub to it's fullest with it's built in amp. Will this work out for me? Look at the link. Thanx!
I want to blow my windows out.
