I have just purchased a Samsung TX-T2782 tv and I already own a Samsung HT-DS610 home theater system. I have already plugged in the audio and video cords but I can't view the dvds. Is there a special channel that I need to turn the tv to? How are the cords supposed to go in? Someone help!!!

I live in an 850 sq. foot apartment and am planning on buying a home theater system for my living room t.v. I'm not sure how I should shop for one and what I should look for. Should I go by how it sounds at the store? Does wattage matter?

I want pretty good sound, but I want to also make sure my downstairs neighbors don't hear the noise. Any advice would be great. Thanks!
Also, this will mostly be used for watching movies and playing the XBOX 360 and Wii. I'd like to keep it at a budget below $500.
Thanks for all the helpful answers- I went into the store and "listened" to the different ones. Due to the space in my apartment, I wound up going with a 2.1 system rather than a 5.1.

Basically I am planning to buy a home theater system with a DVD player but want to know if i can use that even without the DVD player. If i am just watching TV, is my home theater system is used or sitting idle?

The amp in this receiver isn't that strong and won't push my sub well. There is an extra sub out-put on the receiver so I want to connect a good SELF POWERED sub using a subwoofer cable so that I can optimize the self powered sub to it's fullest with it's built in amp. Will this work out for me? Look at the link. Thanx!

I recently purchased a home theater system

and was wondering if it's better to turn the receiver on and off or just leave it on? The same goes for the subwoofer…is it better to turn those devices off or leave them on if I frequently use them throughout the day? I was just wondering as I really want to prolong the life of my new system. Any other advice for a new home theater system owner?

Hi, I have a Sony DAV-DX150 home theater system (have had it for about 2 years) and for the last few months, when I leave the system on for several hours (typically overnight) the sound cuts out. The only way to get it back is to change the found function (i.e. change from DVD to radio and back) or to turn the power off and back on. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to go about fixing it?

I've an LG Home theater system.
It is not playing for more than 2 or 3 minutes.
It keeps playing the CD/DVD, but sound does not come after some time.
FM, aux nothing is working for more than 2 to 3 minutes.
I suppose there is some problem with the dvd player

Short Story:
I have no TV(and don't want to get one)
I do have a new flat screen computer monitor.

I would like to purchase a home theater system & plug in my computer monitor so that I can watch DVDs on a larger screen(as opposed to my laptop - which is where I currently watch DVDs)

Is this possible? If so -
