Home theater system for Ps3?
I have a Lg lcd tv and it has 2 hdmi ports. And also a HT-X40 samsung home theater system. I am trying to make my ps3 to play surround sounds using the speakers i got connected from my theater system. I am also hoping I can get my tv to play surround sounds. My theater system also comes with a dvd player, so I really want it to connect to work with the speakers also. I tried to connect ps3 to my tv using hdmi and use a digital cable to connect the theater system with the ps3, but doesnt work. I tried to connect my ps3 to my tv using hdmi and use a digital audio cable to connect to the tv from the theater system, but it lag(like the sounds come from the speakers are not match with what the characters are saying.) I am really trying to get 3 systems work with the speakers but fail.

Can you just hook the PS3 up to one of the inputs on the TV and then connect only the TV to the surround system?
Sometimes it's easier to use the TV as the switching mechanism instead of the surround system.
If you can get the TV to work through the surround (without the game), then you should be able to connect the game (or a DVD or whatever) to the TV and also hear it out of the surround. Key is to use the "outputs" from the TV. There should be a set of "Audio Out" RCA jacks that would be the easiest way.
I had that exact problem. heres how i fixed it. get a optical digital cable and connect that from the ps3 to the receiver. hdmi cable from ps3 to the tv. and if you have 2 hdmi ports on the receiver plug that into the other hdmi port on your tv. (if not you can use component cables and just connect the audio, red and white, from the receiver to the tv.)
Now your ready. After go to the ps3 start menu. go to sound settings. and there'll have a list and just check the one that matches your receiver and then your good to go.
Enjoy!
